The making of the Sa Calobra road

The making of the Sa Calobra road

His design used the mountains natural curves to keep the gradient mostly the same until the 2 km to go mark which are the hardest and contain two short sections on bends that are steeper at a just manageable 11.5% gradient. The 12 km stretch of road up from Port Sa Calobra, over the top of Col dels Reis (682m) and down to the aqueduct is reason enough to come cycling in Mallorca. Featuring in most peoples top 10 climbs in the world it is, for a road cyclist, a must do. The scenery is spellbinding and the ride is literally breathtaking.

My Mallorca Coast to Coast Experience

My Mallorca Coast to Coast Experience

We all come cycling in Mallorca specifically to ride this coastal route between Andratx and Pollença as it is always the highlight of our trip. This is the first time we have ridden the Mallorca Coast to Coast from Alcudia all the way to Port Andratx. Normally we take the Mallorca Cycle Shuttle down to Andratx and ride back from there. But, this time we fancied a change and wanted to complete a full Mallorca C2C.

My Best Day on a Bike. Ever.

My Best Day on a Bike. Ever.

Riding the best cycle route in Mallorca was without doubt my best day on a bike. Ever! A big day – one that we had trained for though and better than any sportive we had done. Riding the best cycle route in Mallorca was without doubt my best day on a bike. Ever! A big day – one that we had trained for though and better than any sportive we had done. 169km with 4300m worth of climbing. We stopped often and I mean often at the excellent little cafés that seem to be in all the small towns. I drank more coffee and ate more cake than is probably healthy, but you know what? I earned it!

Mallorca does not have many public toilets in the areas where cyclists venture out to.
